Next week on Emmerdale, Bernice returns to the village, shocking Gabby and Liam.

Elsewhere, Lydia is mugged, setting Samson on a path of revenge, while paranoid Kim shoots an intruder at Home Farm.

Here are the 16 big moments coming up.

1. Lydia faces harassment

Sam and Samson have done their best to protect Lydia from the backlash about the pension scam, but Lydia is heartbroken when she reads comments online about her.

The next day, a brick is thrown through their window and a worried Samson is scared about leaving Lydia alone. He tries to convince her to call the police but Sam wants it settled the Dingle way.

Lydia can't bear the thought of violence, so she tells Sam she'll go and report it to the police herself.

2. Samson recognises Lydia's muggers

As Lydia prepares to go to the police station, she's robbed outside Wishing Well by a pair of lads who want revenge for the pension scam.

Samson catches sight of the mugging but he doesn't interrupt and it becomes clear he recognises the culprits.

Sam manages to chase the lads away but Samson's upset with himself for not protecting Lydia.

3. Samson decides to take revenge

Later on, Sam's furious about what happened to Lydia but wants to know why Samson is so quiet.

Samson finds himself trapped between Sam's eagerness for revenge and Lydia's pleas for no more trouble.

When Sam takes Lydia to the police station to report the mugging, Samson puts a crowbar in his school bag. He's out for revenge…

4. Kim is taken aback by Gabby's behaviour

After Kim lashes out at Gabby again, Gabby tells Noah that she's not going to be pushed around by Kim for much longer.

At the HOP, Kim struggles with Al and Jai's attitude as they refuse to listen to her orders and try to take control of the business.

Kim manages to see them off but she's taken aback when she watches the Home Farm security footage and sees Gabby threatening revenge.

5. Kim's paranoia increases

Paranoid, Kim is suspicious of Will checking in on her and she sends him away, bolting the door after him.

Kim pours herself a drink – a glass of the drugged brandy. She sits alone and has delusions, imagining she can hear intruders. She arms herself with a shotgun and keeps drinking.

6. Dawn resolves to get Kim away from Jamie

The next day, Dawn and Jamie's behaviour makes Kim anxious, but when Dawn hears Jamie's threats afterwards, she worries he's turning into his mum.

Speaking to her dad alone at Woodbine, Dawn tells Will she's at her wits' end with Kim. If Will won't sort her out then maybe she'll have to do it.

Later, Dawn asks a shocked Jamie to move out of Home Farm.

7. Kim shoots an intruder

As an anxious and paranoid Kim sits inside Home Farm, she clutches her shotgun and panics when she sees a figure enter the house on the CCTV.

As the intruder moves through Home Farm, Kim is stricken with terror and shoots. But who is this mystery invader?

8. Bernice returns to the village

Bernice makes her return to the village and it's awkward timing for Liam, just as he has moved on and become engaged to Leyla.

With Liam a little drunk, he's convinced that he's seeing things and Gabby is thrown to have her mother back in her life.

9. Liam pushes Leyla to move their wedding closer

When Leyla's dream wedding venue becomes available, Liam convinces her they should move their wedding date and get married as soon as possible.

But will Bernice's arrival cause problems and doubts, and does she have an ulterior motive for coming back?

10. Liv finds her mum

Liv manages to track down her mum Sandra to a caravan park and she's angry to learn that Sandra has been in the UK for months and hasn't contacted Liv at all.

As Liv offloads her problems, Sandra pays her little attention. She instead gets out the booze and persuades Liv to drown her sorrows instead.

11. Liv and Sandra get drunk

As they reminisce about old times, Liv's smiling again, but she gives in and drinks the vodka Sandra has poured.

Liv and Sandra get drunk, stumbling around and dancing together. But the party atmosphere changes when Liv trips and falls to the ground.

12. Liv watches an emotional message from Aaron

The day after, Liv watches a video message from Aaron as he makes an emotional plea for her to return home, worried about Sandra's negative influence.

Soon after, Sandra returns with more to drink, but has Aaron's message finally got through to Liv?

13. Tracy is left ashamed

The stress of being a new mum is really getting to Tracy as exhaustion and emotion make her doubt her abilities.

But Tracy is left completely ashamed next week when she accidentally lets Frankie's pram roll away down the street and it's left to Wendy to rescue her.

14. Manpreet is disappointed about her wedding

Manpreet might only be renewing her marriage vows to Rishi in an attempt to bury her feelings for Charles, but she's still taking the wedding planning seriously.

She's left disappointed when her daughter Aiesha reveals she can't make the big day. Is this setback going to give Manpreet cold feet?

15. Leyla and Andrea worry about the business

With The Woolpack in trouble, Leyla and Andrea start to worry about their own business and things aren't looking good.

As they look over the books, Leyla and Andrea realise that a string of cancellations mean they might be in trouble. Looks like they're going to have to get creative.

16. Marlon gets tough with Mack

Marlon might have thought renting out his place to lodgers was the ideal way to solve his financial troubles, but after being coerced into letting Mack stay, he might live to regret being such a pushover.

Having already struggled to set ground rules, Marlon decides to put his foot down and gives Mack a final warning about his overdue rent. Will crafty Mackenzie pay up on time? We don't reckon it's likely.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
