Mississippi Stud is a five-card poker game where the players compete against a pay table rather than each other or the dealer. Player's just needs a pair of Jacks or higher to win. Any pair of 6s through 10s will be a push.
The Object
Object of Mississippi Stud
The object of Mississippi Stud is for the players and the dealer to use their two cards and the three community cards in forming the best possible five-card poker hand.
Mississippi Stud Rules -
Prior to the first card being dealt for each round of play, players must place an Ante bet to build up the pot, as well as any optional bonus bets, until the house dealer announces, "no more bets". The dealer will then deliver two cards face-down to each player, moving clockwise around the table. The dealer will then place three cards face down in the assigned area in the middle of the layout. (these are the community cards). The two cards will be combined with three community cards to create a five-card poker hand.
Third Street - (first betting round)
Play or Fold? After examining their two cards, each player who placed an Ante bet will now be given the option to either make the 3rd Street bet in an amount equal to one, two, or three times the amount of their Ante Wager (1x to 3x the Ante) or fold and forfeit the Ante Wager and thereby ending their participation in the round of play with the exception of a player that placed a 3 Card Bonus bet.
At the end of the 3rd Street bet, the dealer will collect all forfeited bets and associated cards, and place them in the discard rack. For players who made a 3 Card Bonus bet and folds, the dealer will remove the base game bet and tuck the folded cards under the player’s 3 Card Bonus bet.
In summary: After looking at their two cards, players have a choice:
A. Fold (and surrender their ante)
If a 6 Card Bonus bet was made, the cards should be tucked under the 6 Card Bonus Wager
B. Make a 3rd street bet of 1x to 3x their ante.
Fourth Street betting round
Play or Fold The Dealer will then turn over and reveal the first community card. After seeing the first community card, each player will now be given the option to either place a 4th Street bet in an amount equal to one, two, or three times the amount of the player’s Ante Wager (1x to 3x the Ante) or fold and forfeit the Ante Wager and 3rd Street wagers and thereby end their participation in the round of play with the exception of a player that placed a 3 Card Bonus bet.
At the end of the 4th Street bet, the dealer repeats the process of collecting all forfeited bets and associated cards.
In summary: After the dealer then reveals the first community card, players have a choice:
A. Fold (and surrender their ante and 3rd street bet)
If a 6 Card Bonus bet was made, the cards should be tucked under the 6 Card Bonus Wager
B. Make a 4th street bet of 1x to 3x their ante.
5th Street betting round
Play or Fold The Dealer will then turn over and reveal the second community card. After seeing the second community card, each player will now be given the option to either place a 5th Street bet in an amount equal to one, two, or three times the amount of the player’s Ante wager (1x to 3x the Ante) or fold and forfeit the Ante Wager and 3rd Street, and 4th Street wagers and thereby end their participation in the round of play with the exception of a player that placed a 3 Card Bonus bet.
Again at the end of the 5th Street betting, the dealer repeats the process of collecting all forfeited bets and associated cards.
Note: When a player folds, they forfeit all bets left in action except the optional 3-Card-Bonus Wager.
In summary: After the dealer then reveals the second community card, players have a choice:
A. Fold (and surrender their ante, 3rd street and 4th street bets)
If a 6 Card Bonus bet was made, the cards should be tucked under the 6 Card Bonus Wager
B. Make a 5th street bet of 1x to 3x their ante.
At this point the players is required to tuck their cards under the 6 Card Bonus bet or 5th street wager if there is not a 6 Card Bonus wager.
Final Community Card
After all decisions have been made regarding the 5th Street wager, the dealer then turns over and reveal the final community card (third community card).
Then working from right to left for each hand and while the cards are tucked under the 6 Card Bonus bet, the dealer will act on the Three Card Bonus Bet first, collecting or paying them.
The dealer then evaluates each player’s two-card starting hand and announce the best possible five-card poker hand that can be formed using the player’s two cards and the three community cards. This is the players Mississippi Stud hand.
