Sugar scrubs are already great for your skin, but this Rose Sugar Scrub is even better for the skin than most. The recipe not only includes coconut oil, like I typically use in my scrubs, but also rose hip oil and rose absolute in a jojoba carrier oil. With this rose body scrub, you can nourish and heal your skin while smelling like roses!

Rose Sugar Scrub

This rose sugar scrub recipe has a delicate rose fragrance and is a great addition to your natural skin care routine. As red dyes can be staining, a rose colored micaRose Sugar Scrub Recipe: A Skin Nourishing Rose Scrub (2) was used to tint this scrub. The mica is also great for coloring your ownsoaps and for use in diy makeup and craft projects.

Of course, homemade rose sugar scrub makes a wonderful gift too. Such a pretty pink sugar scrub is an obvious choice for Valentine's Day, but would be a perfect DIY Mother's day gift or special birthday present as well. The delicate rose fragrance is more akin to walking past a rose bush in bloom, than being "perfumy", so I believe most would like it. Rose Absolute

You may notice I used absolute rather than rose essential oil in this body scrub recipe. True essential oil from roses is prohibitively expensive. The absolute provides fresh real rose scent without the extreme cost.

Note: Despite being called "Magic Red" this mica is actually a lovely shade of pink. It is just poorly named.

I'm excited to make this, but am confused by the Pink Pearlized vs the Red Mica Powder. Which on achieves the color in the picture?

In the particular brand I used the color was "magic red". I ordered it expecting a real red, but it was actually a lovely pink. You can use another brand of pink mica powder, look for a rich pink color and I personally like the pearlized type. It works great in soaps and bath bombs too.

    Hi,

Since there's no cleansing agent in the scrub, do I need to wash my face with a cleanser after exfoliating with this scrub?

Also can I use virgin coconut oil or is refined better for the skin?

    Thank you!

Unless you have very dry skin, yes wash after. Coconut oil can clog pores. For facial application you don't need to wash off, swap fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond or other non-comedogenic oil.

I have very dry skin would I have to swap it out for almond oil or something like that?

      • Beauty Crafter

That isn't necessary. If you prefer a certain oil for your skin though, by all means use it. They are pretty much interchangeable in scrub recipes.
